DESCRIPTION:Yuan Xie\, University of California\, Santa Barbara\nBy combin
ing the speed of SRAM\, the density of DRAM\, and the non-volatility of FL
ASH memory\,  emerging NVM technologies have a great potential to be the
universal memories of the future.   Most of the existing research on NVM
architecture research focus on the performance/power/density benefits and
how to overcome challenges such as write overhead and wearout issues. The
nonvolatile characteristics of such emerging memory technologies are not
fully explored in prior study. In this talk\,  we propose to focus on how
to exploit the nonvolatile features that distinguish the emerging memory
technologies from traditional SRAM/DRAM technology\, and investigate new m
emory architecture design with novel applications\, such as checkpointing\
, persistent memory\, and nonvolatile processor designs for energy harvest
 ing applications.
