DESCRIPTION:various experts\nKnee OA is a complex disease involving severa
 l pathways and therapies. This observation is the basis for the symposium 
 program which highlights different aspects of the disease and research don
 e throughout the country.\nThe scientific presentations will start with a 
 lecture by Prof. Thomas P. Andriacchi from Stanford University. Prof. Thom
 as P. Andriacchi is a world leader in multidisciplinary study of knee OA. 
 His lecture about a systems approach will therefore provide an excellent f
 oundation to link the various aspects of the disease presented during this
  symposium.\nThe talks on pathomechanism and treatments will provide a bro
 ad coverage of competencies in Switzerland. During this first national sym
 posium on knee OA it will be impossible to give the podium to all OA resea
 rchers in Switzerland. For this reason\, the symposium includes a poster s
 ession and every participant is encouraged to present his work during the 
 extended coffee break. Posters are invited to present either a specific st
 udy or more generally the field of activity of a research group. PhD stude
 nts as well as senior researchers are welcome to bring a poster and share 
 their research with other Swiss teams.
