DESCRIPTION:With 1500 hydropower plants and over 150 large dams (of which 
 25 over 100 m high)\,  Switzerland is a hub for Dam Engineering and the E
 nergy Sector. Hydropower account for 59 percent of the domestic electricit
 y supply. The Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE) requires that Owners v
 erify their schemes including “dams” for seismic loading. By 2015\, a 
 vast majority of seismic verifications shall have been performed in accord
 ance with the most recent Guidelines published by the SFOE thus representi
 ng a milestone in Swiss Dam Engineering.\nThe Benchmark is jointly organiz
 ed by Swiss Committee on Dams and the ICOLD - Committee on Computational A
 spects of Analysis and Design of Dams at EPFL\, from 9th to the 11th Septe
 mber 2015. It sets a framework for Engineers\, Owners and Scientists\, to 
 perform and share their experiences for predefined themes and on an Open t
 heme dedicated to Dam Safety.
