DESCRIPTION:Ezequiel González Debada\nThe full adoption of Electric Vehic
les (EVs) can carry advantages not only in terms of environmental implicat
ions but also in relation to alternative business opportunities and new ve
hicle designs that are impossible with combustion engines. In this seminar
some control applications regarding electric vehicles and charging facili
ties will be discussed. These are mainly torque distribution strategies fo
r in-wheel vehicles and Battery Swapping Stations management.\nIn the firs
t part of this seminar some of the work conducting to the design and the i
mplementation of a torque distribution strategy over a real prototype are
presented. Then\, Battery Swapping Stations suitability will be discussed
and motivated in comparison to the Battery Charging Station approach. More
over the application of an MPC to support the management of those faciliti
es will be shown.\nFinally a newbie cooperative control scenario between c
harging facilities will be briefly introduced.Bio: My name is Ezequiel Gon
zález Debada\, I hold a “Licenciatura” (Spanish long degree) in Indus
trial Engineering specialized in Industrial Automation by the University o
f Seville and a Master in Automatics Robotics and Telematics by the Univer
sity of Seville.\nI have been working for a year and a half as a research
assistant in tasks related to modeling and control of electric vehicles an
d to the European project DYMASoS\, and I am currently an eligible candida
te for starting a PhD at EPFL.\nMy current research interest includes opti
mization\, MPC\, control and coordination of large systems and application
s e.g. management of distributed power generation systems\, EVs coordinati
 on etc.
