DESCRIPTION:Nizar Bel Hadj Ali\, Associate Professor\, Civil Engineering
Department\, Ecole Nationale d'Ingénieurs de Gabès\, University of Gab
ès\, Gabès\, Tunisia\nClustered elements have been employed to model con
tinuous cables that slide over multiple nodes in cable and membrane struct
ures as well as tensegrity structures. Although continuous cables can be a
dvantageous elements for construction and control purposes\, they can sign
ificantly change the dynamic behaviour of a structure increasing its nonli
near aspect and thus the complexity of shape and vibration control. This t
alk focuses on the dynamic behaviour of clustered tensegrity structures. L
inear and nonlinear dynamic analysis schemes are presented. A study on vib
ration mitigation is presented for tensegrity-based structures subjected t
o harmonic and random excitations. Latest research results are presented a
 nd open problems are highlighted.
