DESCRIPTION:Nancy Houfek\nThrough an initiative of Prof. Nicola Spadin (ET
 HZ)\, a member of NCCR MARVEL\, a one day workshop with Nancy Houfek will 
 be organised at EPFL on 16 October 2015 for women PhD students and postdoc
 s from the NCCR.Two similar workshops will be organised on 12 and 14 Octob
 er in Zurich (one for women PhD students and postdocs\; 1 for women profes
 sors).Nancy Houfek is a stage director\, actor and theatre educator. From 
 1997 to 2014\, she was Head of Voice and Speech for the Tony Award winning
  American Repertory Theater at Harvard\, teaching vocal production\, coach
 ing the professional acting company\, and administering the M.F.A. program
  in voice training pedagogy. She has also created a series of workshops de
 signed to help women with negotiation and leadership challenges\, which ha
 s been presented to more than one hundred institutions and professional gr
 oups throughout the U.S. and Canada (http://www.nancyhoufek.com/index.shtm
 l)The workshop at EPFL on 16 October 2015 will thus be quite a unique occa
 sion for women researchers in Switzerland to attend. As the initiative was
  launched by NCCR MARVEL\, we would like to propose to NCCRs Robotics and 
 Synapsy to open this workshop with Nancy Houfek to their women PhD student
 s and postdocs (and to women professors from the respective NCCR\, provide
 d they are willing to travel to Zurich).\nFurther detail on the workshop w
 ith Nancy Houfek program will shortly be available on the MARVEL website.
