 n groups by virtue of so-called modular\nembeddings into arithmetic groups
  of higher rank. The main examples are\ntriangle groups and Veech groups\,
  which admit very geometric descriptions.\nFurthermore I will present a ge
 ometric criterion for a regular map from an\nalgebraic curve to a Shimura 
 variety to be covered by such a modular\nembedding\, and explain its conse
 quences to Galois actions.'
