DESCRIPTION:Rigling\, Andy (WSL)\nClimate change may effect the productivi
 ty\, the biogeochemical cycling and the availability of water resources of
  forest ecosystems with consequences on their species composition\, stand 
 stability and as a consequence on their functionality. Depending on the tr
 ee species\, their growing phase and the site conditions climate change mi
 ght stimulate or limit growth and functioning of the forests. Hence it is 
 important to distinguish between vulnerable and robust forest ecosystems. 
 This seminar will give an overview on possible consequences of direct (hea
 t\, drought\, storms) and indirect effects of climate change (fire\, insec
 ts\, pathogens\, stand competition) on forest ecosystems with a special fo
 cus on the Swiss forests. Based on climate scenarios possible bottlenecks 
 of future forest development will be evaluated and consequences for forest
  goods and services and subsequent forest management will be discussed.
