DESCRIPTION:Organisers\nKESSAR Radha (City University London).\nMALLE Gunt
er (TU Kaiserslautern).\nTESTERMAN Donna (EPFL).\nThe workshop will consis
t of three lecture series.\n Marc Cabanes\, Université Paris DiderotBloc
k theory of finite reductive groups\nOur goal will be to review old and ne
w results about the modular representations of finite reductive groups\, e
ssentially in characteristic different from the defining characteristic of
the group. This includes the relationship with Lusztig's twisted inductio
n\, determination of defect groups and decomposition numbers.Britta Späth
\, Bergische Universität WuppertalReduction theorems for some counting co
njectures\nThe course will cover various Clifford-theoretic aspects that g
ive an understanding of the main common arguments behind the reduction the
orems of some  of the  global-local  counting conjectures in block theo
ry\, in particular the McKay conjecture.Olivier Dudas\, Université Paris
Diderot.Modular aspects of Deligne-Lusztig theory\nWe will explain how to
use the mod-\\ell cohomology of Deligne-Lusztig varieties to study the rep
resentation theory of finite reductive groups in non-defining characterist
ic. We will present several applications\, including the determination of
Brauer trees for blocks with cyclic defect groups
