DESCRIPTION:Prof. Eirini Papagiakoumou\nUnderstanding how neurons process
and relay information by transducing synaptic inputs into action potential
s is a fundamental problem in neuroscience. To improve the performances of
the microscope\, we have implemented the system for two photon excitation
. In this case\, control and localization of illumination patterns in the
axial direction are achieved by combining holographic illumination with th
e recently introduced technique of temporal focusing. With this method we
show that an axial confinement of about 5 μm is reached independently on
the lateral extension of the excitation spot.
