 hat projects onto a base space with fibre over each point a surface.\nThe 
 study of surface bundles over surfaces through numerical invariants has fl
 ourished since the sixties\, after Chern\, Hirzebruch and Serre proved a s
 ufficient condition for the vanishing of their signature.\nI will present 
 a less classical invariant\, namely the simplicial volume\, as well as rel
 ations between this and the signature and the Euler characteristic of the 
 surface bundle. If time permits\, I will outline the construction of a fam
 ily of such bundles for which the estimates of the simplicial volume are b
 etter than in the general case.
