 ve interferometer for plasma density measurements in Electron Cyclotron Re
 sonance (ECR) Ion Sources has been developed. In such compact ion sources\
 , like the ECR\, the wavelength of the probing electromagnetic radiation u
 sed for the interferometry is comparable to the size of the plasma chamber
 \, then\, both the experimental setup and the measurement technique\, have
  been developed in order to avoid the generation of "multipaths"\, due to 
 the modal beahaviour of microwaves. In this seminar the measurement techni
 que and the preliminary results of the experimental characterization of th
 e microwave interferometer will be presented.
