 motopy theory is to import the techniques of algebra and algebraic geometr
 y to homotopy theory. With the construction of good models of the category
  of spectra\, many have imported familiar constructions in algebra to homo
 topy theory. After recalling the definition of commutative ring spectra an
 d power operations we will present some computations of the relative smash
  products\, the analogue of tensor products. We will then apply some of th
 ese computations to obtain non-realizability results as well as interpret 
 these structures. These results naturally lead to the question "Why are re
 lative smash products detecting this structure?" We then answer this quest
 ion with the construction of a category of representations of a "fundament
 al group" object that is built from relative smash products.
