DESCRIPTION:The A*STAR Investigatorship (A*I) is a prestigious research aw
 ard designed to attract the most promising young researchers from around t
 he world to do independent research at A*STAR. It was initiated to nurture
  the next generation of scientific leaders in biomedical sciences\, physic
 al sciences and engineering research.Tenability\nThe Investigatorship will
  be tenable at one of A*STAR’s prestigious research institutes. A*STAR I
 nvestigators will select a mentor from A*STAR's research institutes and wi
 ll be able to harness existing talents\, equipment\, and other resources a
 s they conduct and publish their research independently.Duration and Remun
 eration\nInvestigatorships may be awarded for a period of 6 years\, depend
 ing on a positive interim review by A*STAR.\nSuccessful candidates will re
 ceive an attractive remuneration package. Settling-in and housing allowanc
 es will be provided for overseas candidates according to A*STAR’s prevai
 ling policies\, if applicable.Research Grant\nIn addition to the salary\, 
 successful applicants will receive research funding of up to SGD 6 million
  dollars over six years. The funding can be used for set up costs\, fundin
 g of research staff\, equipment\, consumables and travel subject to A*STAR
  terms and conditions.Doctorate Degree\nApplicants must hold a doctorate d
 egree or equivalent at the start of the Investigatorship (but not necessar
 ily at the time of application). Applicants who do not hold a PhD degree a
 t the time of application must pass their PhD exam before they can start t
 heir Investigatorship (by August 2016 for this upcoming call). Confirmatio
 n of award of the PhD will be required before any Investigatorship award i
 s confirmed.Age\nApplicants should ideally be 35 years of age or younger. 
 Exceptions may be made for researchers who have taken breaks between their
  research career and those whose training requires longer duration. A*STAR
  reserves the right to consider applications from exceptional individuals
