DESCRIPTION:Johannes Nicaise\, Imperial College\nSemi-algebraic sets over
non-archimedean fields appear naturally in tropical and non-archimedean ge
ometry. I will explain how one can use\nHrushovski and Kazhdan’s theory
of motivic integration to attach geometric invariants to these semi-algebr
aic sets. In a joint project with Sam Payne and Franziska\nSchroeter\, we
use this construction to find geometric interpretations for the refined cu
rve counting invariants of Göttsche and Shende and the corresponding refi
ned\ntropical multiplicities of Block and Göttsche.
