 ased\non the GMR\, but it has also revealed many other interesting effects
 . Today\nspintronics is developing along many novel directions with promis
 ing\nprospects as well for short term applications as for the “beyond CM
 OS”\nperspective. After an introduction on the fundamentals of spintroni
 cs\, I will\nreview some of the most interesting emerging directions of to
 day: spin\ntransfer and its applications to STT-RAMs or to microwave gener
 ation\,\nspintronics with semiconductors\, graphene and carbon nanotubes\,
  Spin Hall\nEffects\, neuromorphic devices etc.
