DESCRIPTION:Prof. Christoph Lienau\, Carl von Ossietzky Universität Olden
 burg\, Oldenburg\, Germanyhttps://www.uni-oldenburg.de/en/uno/\nProbing an
d manipulating the motion of electrons in complex solid state\, molecular
or\nbiological nanostructures in real time is a fundamental challenge in c
ontemporary physics. It\nis expected that an increased understanding of th
e underlying microscopic processes may\nresult in quite a number of novel
applications\, e.g.\, in optical and quantum information\ntechnology or in
photovoltaics. The experimental methods allowing to visualize these\ncomp
lex processes\, in particular time-resolved light-\, x-ray and electron mi
croscopy\, are\ncurrently undergoing an extremely rapid development. In my
talk\, I will present recent\nexperimental progress achieved in Oldenburg
in this direction. Specifically\, I will discuss the\nrole of quantum coh
erence for ultrafast charge separation processes in organic solar cells\n[
 1\,2]. Using recently ultrafast two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy\,
I will provide strong\nevidence for persistent vibronic quantum coherences
in prototypical polymer and solar cell\nmaterials at room temperature and
will discuss their effect on the light-induced charge\nseparation in thes
 e systems...
