 –Yu Lee. Embeddings of maximal tori into classical groups over global fi
 elds of characteristic ̸= 2 are the subject matter of several recent pape
 rs (for instance by Prasad and Rapinchuk\, Fiori\, Lee)\, with special att
 ention to the Hasse principle. The aim of this talk is to describe a compl
 ete criterion for the Hasse principle to hold\, and to give necessary and 
 sufficient conditions for a classical group to contain a maximal torus of 
 a given type.
