DESCRIPTION:The call is expected to be officially published on 15 March 20
 16\, and the deadline for submission of proposals is expected to be on 28 
 April 2016.\nZika is a mosquito-borne viral disease caused by the Zika vir
 us (ZIKV) that has recently been spreading through the South Pacific and L
 atin America.\nThe importance of a rapid research response to the Zika out
 break is highlighted by the WHO's declaration on 1 February 2016 that the 
 recent cluster of microcephaly cases and other neurological disorders is a
  Public Health Emergency of International Concern.\nGiven the urgency of t
 he situation\, the European Commission will launch a call in order to supp
 ort the urgently needed research during the ongoing ZIKV outbreak. The pre
 -publication of the call including the topic text can be found via the Zik
 a Research Website.\nThe pre-published topic text may be modified until it
 s official publication.
