DESCRIPTION:Prof. Haibin Tang\, Space Plasma & Electric Propulsion Laborat
 ory\, School of Astronautics\, Beihang University\nThe Electric/Plasma Pro
pulsion has recently arrest global attention by itsremarkably high specifi
c impulse and exhaust velocity\, which is highly likely to save fuel\, to
increase payload rate and lifetime of spacecraft in space exploration. Est
ablished in 1998 by School of Astronautics\, Beihang University\, the SPEP
L (Space Plasma & Electric Propulsion Laboratory) has been one of the most
active groups researching the various scientific issues.\nCurrently\, we
have spent much effort in the study of Magnetoplasmadynamic Thruster & Mag
netic Nozzle\, Miniature Hall & Ion Thruster and Hollow Cathode\, Pulsed P
lasma Thruster\, Plasma Thruster Plume\, and other relevant subjects. The
characteristics of Arcjet Thruster and Colloid Ion Thruster had been also
examined in SPEPL a few years ago. To design\, manufacture\, and test thes
e thruster systems\, the experimental apparatuses including Vacuum Facilit
 ies\, Probes Diagnostics\, Micro-Impulse Measuring Equipment etc.\, have b
een greatly developed. Meanwhile\, our research interests have been focusi
ng on the modeling & numerical simulations via Particle Dynamics & PIC/MCC
Method as well\, which can offer considerable insights into the plasma ba
 sic mechanisms.\nForfurther study of the Electric/Plasma Propulsion\, we s
hall devote to the thruster of large thrust and high specific impulse/high
efficiency\, the thruster of micro scale\, and the problem of plasma plum
 e. Owing to its strong character of interdiscipline\, many new ideas and i
nventions are believed to burst out constantly.
