DESCRIPTION:Dr. Aravind Vijayaraghavan\, University of Manchester\nDr. Vij
 ayaraghavan's research touches upon a breadth of nano-physics and material
 s engineering topics\, including: exfoliation\, growth\, and electronic de
 vices of graphene\, large-scale assembly of sorted single-walled carbon na
 notubes\, applications of chirality-sorted single-walled carbon nanotube d
 evices\, voltage-contrast scanning electron microscopy of nanotube assembl
 ies\, and single-walled carbon nanotube-based electronic devices. Beyond s
 pectroscopic and electronic characterization of nanocarbon devices\, Dr. V
 ijayaraghavan's recent research endeavors have focused on developing targe
 ted\, non-toxic cancer treatment via "differentiation-based nano-therapy".
 \nBio: Dr. Aravind Vijayaraghavan received his B. Tech from the Department
  of Metallurgical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT
 ) Madras in Chennai\, India. In 2005\, he was awarded his Ph.D. in Materia
 ls Science and Engineering from the Rensselaer Polytechnique Institute (RP
 I) under the supervision of Prof. Pulickel Ajayan. As an Alexander-von-Hum
 boldt research fellow\, he pursued his postdoctoral studies at the Institu
 t für Nanotechnologie at the Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT) f
 ollowed by a senior postdoctoral associate position in Michael Strano's la
 b at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In 2010\, Dr. Vijaya
 raghavan was appointed to group leader at the University of Manchester as 
 part of the School of Materials and National Graphene Institute (NGI).\nHe
  is the recipient of several awards\, including the Joshua Phillips Award 
 for Innovation in Science Engagement and the Fellowship of the Higher Educ
 ation Academy (HEA). Dr. Vijayaraghavan is a member of the IEC TC113 commi
 ttee as a UK expert on graphene\, the NTI/1 nanotechnology committee of th
 e British Standards Institute\, the public coordinator for the NGI\, and t
 he public coordinator and board member of  the Northwest Nanoscience Doct
 oral Training Center (NOWNANO DTC).
