 nyak have developed a very rich theory of singular surfaces\, which includ
 es the smooth riemannian metrics\, as well as metrics with conical singula
 rities. We adapt the proof of the classical Cheeger-Gromov compactness the
 orem to this setting\; as a corollary\, we obtain a compactification of th
 e space of metrics with conical singularities on a fixed surface.
