DESCRIPTION:Raphaël MENARD\nFinding the way back into energy self-suffici
ency. The end of a 200-year parenthesis of stock. Building this new global
convergence\, sum of a myriad of networked local autonomies. So what is t
he perimeter likely to balance energy demand and local collection of renew
able energy flows? What is the right value\, the level line of a “topogr
aphy of our energy densities” which could distinguish potentially autono
mous territories?\nArchitect and engineer\, Raphaël Ménard is the founde
r of Elioth. Under his direction\, this multidisciplinary team manages inn
ovative and high-value-added design projects (light structures\, façades\
, integration of energy and climatic issues into architectural and urban d
esign). Since 2011\, Raphaël is also director of the future-oriented urba
n planning division of Egis and co-director of its consulting-innovation-d
esign branch. Raphaël has developed several innovations in the field of r
enewable energies\, such as the Solar Mountains\, Wind-it\, Cellter\, Maxw
ell’s Demon or urban thermal cells. Since 2013\, he is associate teacher
and member of the scientific board of the DPEA Architecture Post-Carbone
at Ecole d’Architecture de la Ville et des Territoires de Marne-la-Vall
ée. At the end of 2014\, the structure “169-architecture”\, dedicated
to the architecture of renewable materials and to the urban planning of r
enewable energies\, is created. 169 is the winner of the competition EDF B
as Carbone 2015 with the project “la Fabrique de la Renaissance” (with
Obras and Elioth). In 2015\, Raphaël is guest professor at the Ecole Pol
ytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). He teaches a Master studio entit
led “2050 : sous le soleil exactement”.\nThe axis Integrated Design\,
Architecture and Sustainability (IDEAS) is a joint initiative of both the
Interdisciplinary Laboratory of Performance-Integrated Design (LIPID) and
Laboratory of Architecture and Sustainable Technologies (LAST) of the ENAC
School at EPFL. It aims to address an increased integration of the variou
s issues related to sustainable architecture within the framework of the M
aster Cycle in Architecture\, Civil and Environmental Engineering\, as wel
l as the Doctoral program Architecture & Science of the city (EDAR).\nA li
ght lunch will be served during the presentation. For logistic aspects\, p
articipants are kindly requested to register via this link before Monday 2
 5 April noon.>> More info>> IDEAS Program
