 LACUS) brings together the EPFL teams working in Ultrafast Science and Tec
 hnology with experimental and theoretical methods as well as those using u
 ltrafast technology in different applications.\nResearch areas are very di
 verse\, spanning from fundamental to applied research and they present a v
 ery high degree of complementarity.\nSeveral EPFL groups are pioneers in u
 ltrafast science and technology and LACUS pools in the expertise in the de
 velopment and the use of advanced ultrafast laser technology\, X-ray and e
 lectron technology and associated methods\, along with the EPFL theory gro
 ups.\nIt also aims at complementing and strengthening existing Swiss scien
 tific infrastructures\, e.g. the Swiss Light Source and the SwissFEL.
