DESCRIPTION:Prof. Dominique Boullier\n\nWith Big Data and Machine Learning
\, we entered a new  quantification era  and Social Sciences are facin
g major challenges such as "the end of theory" and the "solutionist" expec
tations.  \n\nThe lecture will however tell a different story where soc
ial sciences can reinvent themselves as sciences of replications\, using a
selected set of algorithms and controlling the validity of the digital tr
aces that are massively produced and made accessible by platforms.\n\n"Soc
iety" or "Opinion" rely on their own set of quantification devices and met
hods.\n\nDigital networks allow us to supplement these well-established pa
radigms by a third generation of social sciences\, where "Replications" fo
cus on emergence\, propagation and events.
