DESCRIPTION:Emanuele NABONI\nIn this talk\, Emanuele Naboni will introduce
the audience to a series of his projects: neighbourhoods\, buildings\, an
d architectural devices\, located in 5 different continents. The designs\,
approached with strategies\, methods\, and simulation tools drawn from mu
ltidisciplinary research\, reveal the richness of sustainable design beyon
d the usual prescriptions of codes and certification systems. The low-tech
solutions are aimed at creating vibrant and dynamic  outdoor and indoo
r thermal-visual atmospheres \, connecting users to climatic cycles\, loca
l material-construction loops\, and the ecosystem at large .\nDr Emanuele
Naboni is Associate Professor of Sustainable Design at The Institute of Te
chnology of the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen\, School of Architectur
 e. He develops sustainable design solutions at different scales in collabo
ration with a number of international architectural practices. He is the a
uthor of publications from Sustainable Design for Detail\, RIBA\, and Rout
ledge. Previously\, Emanuele was a Researcher at LBNL\, Visiting Researche
r at UC Berkeley\, and Visiting Teacher at Architectural Association and N
ottingham University. He worked at the Performance Design Team of SOM for
some years.\nThe axis Integrated Design\, Architecture and Sustainability
(IDEAS) is a joint initiative of both the Interdisciplinary Laboratory of
Performance-Integrated Design (LIPID) and Laboratory of Architecture and S
ustainable Technologies (LAST) of the ENAC School at EPFL. It aims to addr
ess an increased integration of the various issues related to sustainable
architecture within the framework of the Master Cycle in Architecture\, Ci
vil and Environmental Engineering\, as well as the Doctoral program Archit
ecture & Science of the city (EDAR).\nA light lunch will be served during
the presentation. For logistic aspects\, participants are kindly requested
to register via this link before Monday 13 June noon.>> More info>> IDEAS
