DESCRIPTION:Dr. Christine Mohr\, Department of Experimental Psychology\, U
niversity of Brisol\, UK\nMagical belief and language processing in the tw
o cerebral hemispheres\nMagical thinking and/or belief is one of the produ
ctive symptoms reported from patients with\nschizophrenia\, and is\, at th
e same time\, a common experience in the general population. In both\ninst
ances\, this thinking style has been related to an attenuated left hemisph
eric dominance for\nlanguage\, and a consecutive disinhibition of remote a
ssociative processing in the right hemisphere.\nWhile this right hemispher
e contribution to language processing in the patient population might impi
nge\nnormal conversational capacities\, the same processes in the general
population might facilitate creative\nthinking. Studies are presented whic
h demonstrate and support this view
