DESCRIPTION:PIRE (Partnerships for International Research and Education).\
 nDeadline for preliminary proposals: September 14 2016. Full Proposals: Ap
 ril 24 2017.\n“Partnerships for International Research and Education“ 
 (PIRE) is a programme run by the National Science Foundation (NSF) in the 
 US. The NSF funds all areas of science and engineering except for areas fu
 nded by the National Health Institute (NIH). PIRE aims at promoting excell
 ent science and building research capacities through international collabo
 ration. Swiss teams in successful PIRE applications will be funded by the 
 SNSF.\nThe US researchers submits the application as main applicant to the
  NSF. The Swiss collaborator must submit the completed registration form\,
  available on the SNSF webpage\, to the SNSF.\nThe funding amount awarded 
 to Swiss teams participating in the programme\, for a project with a durat
 ion of four years\, is in line with the Project Funding Regulations of the
  SNSF and counts as a separate budget. The eligible costs for collaboratio
 n in a PIRE project correspond to the eligible costs in project funding.\n
 Participation in PIRE does not count as an additional project and is exemp
 t from the limited amount of parallel ongoing SNSF projects an applicant c
