DESCRIPTION:Prof. Hu Xile\, EPFL\nSunlight-driven water splitting to make 
 hydrogen is a promising method to store solar energy. Water splitting requ
 ires catalysts for both the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and the oxyg
 en evolution reaction (OER). In this talk\, I will present our development
 s of several new classes of water splitting catalysts such as amorphous mo
 lybdenum sulfides for HER and variuous metal hydroxides for OER. These cat
 alysts have been integrated into photoelectrochemical devices yielding ben
 chmark performance.
