DESCRIPTION:Marcos Cruz\nMarcos Cruz lives and works in London. He is a Le
 cturer / Studio Master \nof Unit 20 at the Bartlett School of Architecture
  and a Senior Lecturer \n/ Studio Master of DS10 at the University of West
 minster. Cruz studied \nat the ESAP/Porto and ETSAB/Barcelona\, before mov
 ing to London where he \ngained a master’s degree at the Bartlett in 199
 9 and a doctoral degree \nin 2007. His work\, which focuses on a contempor
 ary discussion about the \nbody in architecture and the emergence of what 
 he considers Inhabitable \nInterfaces\, won the RIBA President’s Researc
 h Award for Outstanding PhD \nThesis in 2008. Back in 2000 he was part of 
 the design team for the \nKunsthaus Graz competition with Peter Cook and C
 olin Fournier (first \nprize). In the same year\, Cruz founded with his pa
 rtner Marjan Colletti \nthe office marcosandmarjan\, which combines the pr
 actice and teaching of \narchitecture\, along with experimental design res
 earch. Their work has \nbeen extensively published and exhibited\, includi
 ng the Actions re Form \nexhibitions in Coimbra and Munich in 2002\, the S
 ão Paulo Biennial in \n2003\, the participation in the Metaflux exhibitio
 n at the Venice \nBiennale in 2004 and the solo exhibition Interfaces/Intr
 afaces at the \niCP Hamburg in 2005/06. Apart from numerous installations\
 , they built \ntwo pavilions and the general layout for the 75th Lisbon Bo
 ok Fair in \nPortugal and worked on a large entertainment complex in Beiji
 ng\, which \nthey won as part of an invited competition in 2004. Recently\
 , their \nproject was a runner-up for the invited competition of a sales c
 entre \nin Cairo. Cruz is author of the publication Unpredictable Flesh \n
 (Mimesis\, 2004) and marcosandmarjan – Interfaces/Intrafaces \n(Springer
 WienNewYork\, 2005)\, as well as an editor of Unit 20 \n(University of Val
 encia/ACTAR\, 2002) and AD – Neoplasmatic Design (John \nWiley & Sons\, 
 2008).
