DESCRIPTION:Prof. Michael Poirier\, Ohio Stat University\nThe physical org
anization of all eukaryotic genomes is evolutionarily conserved where octa
mers of histone proteins repeatedly wrap DNA into nucleosomes to form long
chromatin fibers. Post translational modifications (PTMs) of histone prot
ein octamers regulate essential DNA processing\, including RNA transcripti
on and DNA repair. I will discuss our recent work to understand chromatin
structural dynamics and how it is controlled by histone PTMs\, and the pro
teins that bind these PTMs to regulate DNA accessibility to transcription
 regulatory complexes.
