DESCRIPTION:Prof. T. Söderström - Dept. of Systems and Control\, Uppsal
a University (Uppsala\, Sweden). \nThe lecture gives a tutorial survey of
errors-in-variables methods in system identification\, \nwhere both input
and output measurements are noise-corrupted. Background and motivation \n
are given\, and examples illustrate why such an identification problem can
be difficult. Under \ngeneral weak assumptions\, the systems are not iden
tifiable\, but can be parameterized using \none degree of freedom. Example
s where identifiability is achieved under additional \nassumptions are als
o provided. A number of typical approaches for parameter estimation of \ne
rrors-in-variables models are presented. The underlying assumptions and pri
nciples as well \nas key properties for each approach are highlighted.
