DESCRIPTION:Prof. Andreas Marx - University of Konstanz\nIn eukaryotes\, p
roteins are often chemically modified during their “life span”. These
posttranslational modifications represent an information level that is bey
ond the genetic code and varies with time and cellular location to allow c
ells to adjust protein activities to changes in intra- and extracellular c
onditions. Here\, the protein-based modification ubiquitin and nucleic aci
d-reminiscent modification poly(ADP-ribose) are of particular interest for
us. I will report on our recent results in studies of these biopolymers u
sing synthetic tools. Recent studies have highlighted the paramount import
ance of “non-standard” Watson-Crick nucleobases in DNA and RNA. I will
report on our recent results in the aim to develop simplified systems tha
t allow tracing of these of these rare nucleobases.
