DESCRIPTION:James Pugh\nSearching for targets in an unknown environment is
  a task well-suited for mobile robots\, and especially for a distributed g
roup of robots working in collaboration. In this work\, a suite of new to
ols and methods for distributed robotic search are presented: an on-board
robotic module that allows multiple searching robots to determine their re
lative locations\; a learning-based technique to automatically evolve robo
tic search controllers\; and a set of models that can predict how robots w
ill behave in the search process. These tools and methods are tested in e
xperiments with up to 10 real mobile robots.
