DESCRIPTION:Kate Turner (EPFL)\nIn statistical shape analysis we want meth
 ods to quantify how different two shapes are. In this talk I will outline 
 a method using the topological tool of persistent homology. I will define 
 the Persistent Homology Transform\, which considers a family of persistenc
 e diagrams constructed from height functions in different directions. This
  transform is injective\, stable\, and can effectively describe geometrica
 l features without the use of landmarks.  \n\nThe talk will end with a v
 ariety of example applications.
