DESCRIPTION:By : Svetlana Isakova - JetBrains\n\nAbstract :\nKotlin is a m
odern statically typed language targeting JVM and JavaScript and intended
for industrial use. The main goal of this project is to create a language
 that would be a good tool for developers\, i.e. will be safe\, concise\, f
lexible\, 100% Java-compatible and well-supported by IDE and other tooling
. Kotlin is an open-source project developed by JetBrains\, creators of In
telliJ IDEA and ReSharper\, with the help of the community.\n\nThis talk t
ries to explain the reasons standing behind creating one more programming
language for the JVM platform. We'll focus out attention on the following
features of the language:\n• Nullable types\n• Extension functions\n
 • Lambdas with receiver\n• Coroutines\n \nWe'll discuss: \n• how K
otlin achieves very good compatibility with the Java code\;\n• why Kotli
n is good for writing DSL's and why some functions from the standard libra
ry look like built-in constructs\;\n• a new feature of Kotlin that gener
alizes async/await.\nTo find out more about Kotlin\, please refer to http
 ://kotl.in.\n\nBio :\nSvetlana is a Developer Advocate at JetBrains. She's
been working on the Kotlin language (http://kotlinlang.org/) since 2011.
She is one of the authors of the "Kotlin in Action" book.
