DESCRIPTION:Prof. Giovanni Lapenta\nKU Leuven\, B      \nTwo process
es are most prominent in astrophysical and laboratory plasmas: reconnectio
n and turbulence. Reconnection can convert magnetic energy to particle ene
rgy. Turbulence can improve the efficiency of reconnection in doing so. Tu
rbulence can increase the rate of reconnection and can promote the onset o
f reconnection in multiple locations. But can reconnection itself promote
turbulence? And would turbulence produced by reconnection then feedback on
the reconnection that caused it? We try to address these questions presen
ting our recent research on turbulence induced by reconnection\, focusing
 on:\n\n-    inflow\n-    separatrices\n-    central diffusion reg
ion\n-    outflow from reconnection (reconnection fronts\, reconnection
  jet)\n\n\nReference: Lapenta\, G.\, Markidis\, S.\, Goldman\, M. V.\, & N

ed flux ropes and reconnection fronts. Nature Physics\, 11(8)\, 690-695.
