 C\nAbstract:\nThe islands of Japan are located on the hottest zone of the 
 Ring of Fire\, which is also called Circum-Pacific Belt where a large numb
 er of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur. In addition\, due to a mon
 soonal climate and summer typhoons\, the islands of Japan receive quite a 
 lot of rain which cause landslides\, slope failures and debris flow.Theref
 ore\, those geo-hazards are always major concern all over Japan. To minimi
 ze the casualty\, constructing predictive methods and early-warning system
 s for geo-hazard is urgent issue.We\, JAMSTEC\, have been dedicated to est
 ablish the observatory systems of earthquake and tsunami at ocean bottom a
 nd to perform numerical simulations of landslides using our super-computer
 \, Earth Simulator.Recently\, a new method to predict fault motions is und
 er developing through laboratory experiments.In this seminar\, those JAMST
 EC activities toward prediction and early-warning system for geo-hazard wi
 ll be introduced.\n
