CATEGORIES:Conferences - Seminars
DESCRIPTION:The role of the Bureau d’Egalité at UniGe and of the Gender
Balance Offices in other Swiss institutes in setting up useful actions fo
r women employees in Physics and Astronomy\, in setting up contacts betwee
n them and employees in other Departments and facilitating interactions wi
th the governing organisms of UniGE will be discussed.\nThe second topic o
f the meeting will be on building a collaborative network with the other p
articipants of the GENERA (Gender Equality Network in the European Researc
h Area) project durable beyond the GENERA project itself.\nThe third topic
will be the connection of the university with schools. Programs connectin
g school and university will be discussed and also actions aimed at increa
sing them.\nThough presentations at the meeting are aimed to the primary t
arget of GENERA\, employees in the RFO and RPO\, a guided discussion sessi
on by experts will involve the younger interested audience\, PhD and Postd
ocs. Some school professors will be invited.\n \nTHE GOALS OF THE GENERA
PROJECT\n1. Assess the status of gender issues in the partner organisation
s.\n2. Identify gaps in existing Gender Equality Plans (GEPs) and determin
e specific needs or actions to enhance gender equality and women careers i
n physics.\n3. Monitor and evaluate the existing activities of the involve
d organisations (partners and associates).\n4. Formulate customized GEPs f
or all implementing organizations and create a roadmap for their implement
ation in physics with the potential of application in other research field
s.\n5. Support involved organisations in implementing customized GEPs.\n6.
Create a network of RPOs\, HEIs and RFOs to promote gender equality in ph
ysics.\n7. Set up a long-term monitoring system allowing RPOs and RFOs mon
itoring the impact of their GEPs in physics with the potential of applicat
 ion in other research fields.
