 sent the second cause of disability\, and a huge human and socio-economic 
 burden. While mechanical modeling is daily used in a wide range of field\,
  biomechanical models for implant design and for clinical routine still ra
 ise various challenges: How to get subject specific geometry\, material pr
 operties and loads\, from cost efficient clinically available data? How to
  deal with complexity and develop reasonably simplified models with a comp
 romise between numerical cost and clinical relevance? How to validate the 
 models? Recent advances allow drastic progress to face such issues\, and a
 pproaches will be presented\, together with examples\, particularly regard
 ing spine biomechanics and bone fragility.\n\nBio:\nProfessor Wafa SKALLI 
 is a Mechanical Engineer (1980) and a PhD in Biomechanics (1983) from Arts
  et Métiers ParisTech (ENSAM). She is founder and scientific director of 
 the Institut de Biomécanique Humaine Georges Charpak\, and holder of the 
 BiomecAM ParisTech chair on subject specific musculoskeletal modeling. She
  is particularly involved in biomechanics and modelling of the musculoskel
 etal system\, with a strong link to experimental and clinical approach. Sh
 e is co-inventor of the innovative EOS low dose biplanar XRay system\, and
  has been named as a free member (non-surgeon) of the National Academy of 
 Surgery in France.
