DESCRIPTION:The Research-IDEAS initiative of ZEISS and EPFL aims at foster
 ing a research-oriented industry-academia cooperation by addressing the br
 oader research community at EPFL to connect research with advanced develop
 ment activities at ZEISS.\n\nThe core of the initiative is to initiate and
  support research projects in focus areas defined by the scientific commit
 ee (SC) with the prospect of becoming joint research activities. The IDEAS
  fund will finance such seed projects of typically one year duration with 
 a budget of about 100 k€.\n\nThe first IDEAS call will focus on Fast 3D 
 Imaging and Visualisation. The general challenges is the handling of large
  imaging data and the extraction and visualization of information from lar
 ge imaging data. The main applications are for medical diagnosis and visua
 lisation\, life cell imaging and optical metrolgy.\nPreproposal submission
