 atom scattering."\n\nThe seminar illustrates how the gentlest of all surfa
 ce probes\, helium atoms\, which just tickle the surface 3 Å above the fi
 rst atomic plane\, can listen to the phonons of a metal ultra-thin film\, 
 even 7 layers beneath the surface\, and tell us about their interaction wi
 th electrons. In summary it will tell:\na) A brief history of skin and bon
 es\nb) How HAS perceives underground phonons of metal surfaces via electro
 nic excitations\nc) How HAS provides mode-selected e-p coupling of metal f
 ilms
