 ize\n\nMaking the invisible visible and the impossible possible\n\nProfess
 or Felicitas Pauss received her PhD degree in Theoretical Physics and Math
 ematics at the University of Graz (Austria) in 1976. In 1978 she started t
 o work as a postdoc at the Max-Planck Institute (MPI) in Munich where she 
 changed to the field of Experimental Particle Physics. She continued her r
 esearch at Cornell University (USA) and CERN before she was elected profes
 sor at ETH Zurich in 1993. From 1997 till 2007 she was the director of the
  Institute for Particle Physics of ETH Zurich. Since January 2009 she has 
 been in charge of coordinating CERN’s external relations. Her research a
 ctivities concentrate on two main fields: Particle Physics at the High Ene
 rgy Frontier and Astroparticle Physics\, addressing fundamental open quest
 ions about the structure of the universe and the underlying mechanisms tha
 t govern its evolution. Professor Pauss received many awards and is author
