DESCRIPTION:Francesco GUALDRINI\, PhD\nSerum response factor (SRF) control
s gene activation in response to changes in actin dynamics and mitogen-act
ivated protein kinases.\nSRF has low intrinsic transcriptional activity an
d requires the recruitment of one of two families of co-activators: the MR
TFs (myocardin-related transcription factors) and the TCFs (ternary comple
x factors). MRTFs are actin-binding proteins. The TCF family are specifica
lly activated by MAPK signalling.\nAlthough much has been explored over th
e past years\, little is known about the mechanisms these two pathways ado
pt to control gene expression and the specific cohort of genes they activa
te.\nDuring this seminar I will present the overall network architecture\,
the strategy we adopted to identify target genes\, their wider functional
significance and the mechanism involved in their activation.\n
