DESCRIPTION:Roxane Corbel is a research engeneer with a background in Soci
al psychology with a research interest in:\n"Responsible consumption in fo
od: respective identities and positionings of consumers and non-consumers\
, psychosocial and marketing crossed-visions through the RepMut methodolog
y"\nThis seminar aims to present social partitions’ theory and its metho
dology\, called RepMut (for Mutual Representations). This methodology is a
social relationships’ analysis which aspires to diagnose inter-categori
al relations. It consists in questioning two different groups’ members a
bout the way they perceive their relation\, from extracting their own repr
esentation about their group and the other\, but also concerning what we c
all a “transitional object”\, under which the relation is underlaid. I
n order to develop this methodology\, we drew our inspiration from works o
n social representations\, which have been reviewed taking in account soci
al psychology of language research\, particularly by including the co-cons
truction paradigm.\nThis methodology has been developed in the SPMS (Socio
Psychology and Sports Management Laboratory\, UB\, Dijon) and refers to So
cial Partitions’ Theory (Castel & Lacassagne\, 2005). Social Partitions
’ Theory follows Social Identity Theory (Tajfel\, 1969) and Self-Categor
ization Theory (Turner\, 1987)\, in which people seek for the most satisfy
ing identity. Social comparison triggers competition for this suitable ide
ntity\, and identity strategies are implemented in order to obtain it. Tha
t’s precisely what Social Partitions’ Theory highlights. First\, few t
heoretical points will be approached\, which will be followed by the prese
ntation of the methodology itself and its developments. Then\, an empirica
l study about representations of “cars of the future” will be presente
 d. More precisely\, a diagnosis of mutual positionings of eco-drivers and
traditional drivers will be investigated\, and a summary of this “cars o
f the future” respective visions will be submitted. Finally\, perspectiv
es can be coconstructed and developed with the audience\, considering the
 “urban gardening” questions.
