DESCRIPTION:Prof. Ati Sharma\nRecent years have seen various new approache
s to low-order modelling of turbulent fluid flows. These include the reso
lvent-based approach\,  Koopman/DMD modes and recurrent solutions of the
Navier-Stokes  equations. These approaches are all related. The resolvent
framework\,  which has roots in control theory\, will be explained in so
me detail.\n\nOne lasting theory has proposed that the logarithmic region
of the turbulent boundary layer is dominated by self-similar structures.
Yet\,  there are no clear solutions to what these so-called attached eddi
es should look like.\n\nSome modelling and scaling results will be presen
ted for predicted  eddies in the log layer.\n\n
