DESCRIPTION:Prof. F. Jenko\, Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics\, D\n
Within the next few years\, supercomputing will reach the exascale\, enabl
ing simulations of complex physical processes in fusion plasmas with unpre
cedented realism. This will constitute a major step towards theory-driven
fusion research\, ultimately leading to optimized device designs and opera
ting regimes. These developments will be illustrated by some recent achiev
ements and emerging new opportunities at the intersection of experimental
and theoretical plasma physics\, applied mathematics\, and computer scienc
 e.
