 l Jakob\n\nAbstract\nThe joint acquisition of color and near-infrared (NIR
 ) images is a fast growing field due to various applications that make use
  of the additional spectral information. The silicone sensors of most came
 ras are sensitive to NIR light which is blocked using an additional filter
 . By simply removing this filter\, NIR can be acquired on a broad range of
  imaging devices and leveraged for multiple applications. Our current obje
 ctive is to solve the limitations present in depth estimation from defocus
  blur by relying on NIR information. In this proposal\, we survey three wo
 rks from the field relating to the carried research. The first provides an
  in-depth study of chromatic  aberration and NIR imaging\, its correlatio
 n with color and its deblurring. The second paper  works on the estimatio
 n of defocus maps from single images. Lastly\, we cover a paper that addre
 sses one of the limitations of depth-from-defocus\, namely figuring out wh
