DESCRIPTION:Prof. Shlomo Shamai\n\nThe Andrew and Erna Viterbi Department
 of Electrical Engineering\,\nTechnion-Israel Institute of Technology.\n \
nCloud radio access network (C-RAN) architectures in which the processing/
decoding is migrated from the local\nbase-stations/radio units (RUs) to a
control/central units (CU) in the "cloud" offer a variety of advantages to
cellular\nand wireless networks in general. Fog radio access networks (F-
RAN) address the case where the RUs\nare enhanced by having the ability of
local caching of popular contents. The network operates via fronthaul dig
ital links\nconnecting the CU and the RUs. In this talk we will address ba
sic information theoretic aspects of such\nnetworks\, with emphasis of sim
ple oblivious processing. Theoretical results illustrate the considerable
performance gains to be\nexpected for different cellular models. Some inte
resting theoretical directions conclude the presentation.\n---------------
