DESCRIPTION:\nThe Swiss Leading Houses (University of Basel and Swiss Trop
 ical and Public Health Institute) and the South African Leading House (NRF
  National Research Foundation) are interested in identifying and supportin
 g sustainable social innovations aiming to improve health in human settlem
 ents across South Africa.\n\nThe following social innovations in housing a
 re targeted:\n\n	Innovations in renewable\, clean and affordable energy\,\
 n	Affordable building materials with low environmental impact\,\n	Innovati
 ons in waste disposal\, water\, sanitation and hygiene (WASH)\,\n	Innovati
 ons in architecture/planning to reduce unintentional injuries and improve 
 health & safety in low-income housing environment\n\n \nOn the Swiss side
 \, this challenge is open for researchers i.e. Master and PhD students\, P
 ostdocs and researchers of Swiss Universities\, Universities of Applied Sc
 ience and research institutes or centres of technological excellence with 
 research track record.\n \nFive shortlisted Swiss projects will take part
  in the South African Innovation Summit Camp – One week full of activiti
 es around innovation in Cape Town (3 - 9 Sept 2017).  \n \nThe South Afr
 ican Innovation Summit Camp aims to expose Swiss researchers with applicab
 le projects to market opportunities in South Africa.\nThis goal will be ac
 hieved by participation at the renowned South African Innovation Summit (w
 ww.innovationsummit.co.za/) in addition to a number of activities related 
 to innovation such as visits to key institutions\; workshop on doing busin
 ess in South Africa\; networking event at the Swiss Embassy in South Afric
 a\; participation at a specially hosted World Café\; a matchmaking\, show
 casing and networking event\; showcasing of innovations in the planned Swi
 ss South Africa World Environmental & Water Resources Congress in 2018 and
  participation in the Swiss-South African Business Development Programme.\
